Checking out Harrow’s Ukrainian restaurant

Over the past two years, the tragic events in Ukraine have touched us all. While positive news has been scarce, Ukraine has found a piece of Harrow to call its own and, in this article, we’re exploring Serenity – Harrow’s sole Ukrainian restaurant.

A hearty welcome

With influences from Turkey, Poland, and Hungary, Ukraine’s cuisine often mirrors the region’s harsh winter months and therefore features a lot of hearty fare. There are just seven Ukrainian restaurants in the whole of London and, in September 2023, Harrow was thrilled to welcome the Serenity Restaurant on Station Road. So what can you anticipate from Serenity?

Situated on Station Road (a couple of doors down from the Trinity Bar), Serenity’s exterior is traditional with a hint of glamour – a theme that continues once you step through the doors into the spacious and airy restaurant.

The restaurant is not presently licensed but patrons can enjoy soft drinks, coffee, and tea (including herbal teas), hot chocolate, and Kompot – a non-alcoholic beverage made from boiled fruit. Highlights from the menu include Borsch (a beetroot-based soup), Vareniki (dumplings filled with cottage cheese and potato), and cutlets, and the restaurant prides itself on using only fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

Насолоджуйтесь (Enjoy)

In addition to the main restaurant, Serenity offers a banqueting room on the first floor which can be rented for parties and private events, and if you can’t make it to the restaurant, you can enjoy Ukrainian cuisine delivered straight to your door via Just Eat.
