Harrow Council to reveal phase 1 plans for Byron Quarter development

Harrow Council will reveal the revamped housing plans for Phase 1 of the Byron Quarter development on Tuesday, March 12th, at the Harrow Leisure Centre.

The public exhibition, running from 2pm to 8pm, kicks off a crucial public consultation into the revised new homes project. The development, a collaboration between Harrow Council and Wates Residential, aims to address earlier concerns raised by residents.

Back in January, a major step forward in Harrow’s redevelopment occurred as the Cabinet greenlit fresh business strategies for revitalising council-owned land centrally. The ambitious plans entail the transformation of the Council’s former headquarters into “Poets Corner” and the redevelopment of a long-abandoned driving school adjacent to the Leisure Centre into “Byron Quarter.”

The updated proposals, slated for planning later this year, have been tailored to address community feedback regarding building height, housing types, and integration with the existing environment.

Harrow Council’s vision is to rejuvenate the 1.7-hectare site, introducing up to 149 high-quality homes, including affordable housing, while maintaining harmony with the surrounding traditional housing, Belmont Trail, Byron Park, and Wealdstone Cemetery.

Residents are encouraged to participate in shaping the latest design proposals at the public engagement event. The council seeks input on open spaces and the overall character of the plans.

The exhibition will take place at the Masefield Suite of the Harrow Leisure Centre, located at Christchurch Avenue, Harrow, HA3 5BD.
