A look at some of Harrow’s most expensive streets and houses

Affordable housing in London is an increasingly hot topic these days with many struggling to meet rising costs. While social housing is a conversation that is – and should – be getting louder, today we’re moving to the other end of the scale and twitching the curtains on some of our borough’s most expensive streets and houses.

Gordon Avenue, Stanmore

If this elegant Stanmore street is on your wishlist, you’ll need deep pockets as the average property price stands at between £800,000 and £1.3M. Over the years, Stanmore has been home to a number of famous names including Sir Roger Moore, Billy Idol, Barbara Windsor and Charlotte Rampling OBE. If you’re expecting a bit of a windfall, this street is a lovely place to live, however, you may need to be patient as properties don’t come onto the market very often.

St John’s Road

Known for large, airy, high ceilinged homes, many properties on St John’s Road have been converted into flats and studios however, some do remain as family homes and the average price is a cool £12,580,000.

Harrow on the Hill

With its picturesque village-like feel and period properties, Harrow on the Hill is very much a sought after place to live. While it is possible (if you look really really hard) to find reasonably priced homes in this area, they are few and far between. If, however, price is no object, properties like this seven bedroom home on Mount Park Road can be had for a mere £4,395,000.

Tooke Close, Pinner

Leafy Pinner has been home to some famous faces in its time including Elton John, Patrick Moore and Michael Rosen. It’s also home to some impressive (and expensive homes) such as this four bedroom property on Tooke Close which is currently on the market for a cool £1,050,000.

More petite than palatial

For most of us, homes like the ones highlighted in this article are impossibly out of reach save for a lottery win but, thankfully, there are plenty of other options to choose from including family homes, flats, studios and house shares to suit most budgets.
