Man from Edgware jailed after £3,000 airport duty free theft

A man from Edgware has been sentenced to prison for his role in a duo that stole items worth over £3,000 at Stansted Airport.

Marian Filip, 43, of Stanway Gardens, Edgware, has been sentenced to eight weeks in prison along with Donrina-Irina Filip Catana, 37, of no fixed address.

The incident happened at the World Duty Free shop at the airport on Tuesday, March 26th after when Essex Police were alerted by a staff member about seeing a man and a woman act suspiciously.

Police discovered Donrina in airside toilets with the stolen items whilst Marian was found shortly after when he was about to board a flight.

They were both arrested and charged with theft and appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on March 27 where they pleaded guilty to the offences.

Both have been jailed for eight weeks.
