Thousands expected at Pinner St George’s Day celebrations and famous wheelbarrow race

Pinner residents and visitors from across Harrow are gearing up for the annual St George’s Day celebrations and Wheelbarrow Race on Sunday, April 21st.

The festivities, organised each year by Pinner Rotary, promise a day filled with entertainment and community spirit.

The event kicks off at noon with bell ringing marking the start of the celebrations. Attendees can catch the Scout Parade along the High St, witness Morris Dancing by the Merrydowners, and enjoy the award-winning chorus Capital Connection.

For families, there will be a Punch and Judy Show on Church Farm Green, while music lovers can rock out to Simply Gray’s tunes. The highlight of the day will be the annual Wheelbarrow Race, where contestants, often in fancy dress, will dash from the top of the High St to Little Common.

As the festivities wind down, Mayor of Harrow will present prizes to the winners, followed by more Morris Dancing and music from Simply Gray.

Throughout the day, people in attendance are encouraged to donate to charities supported by the Rotary.

The event organisers are also looking forward to welcoming everyone to their next event, the Pinner Rotary Village Show on September 7, 2024.
