Police appeal for help in Harrow child sexual assault investigation

Police investigating the alleged sexual assault of a child in Harrow last week have released a new statement today, appealing for help from the public.

The incident is said to have happened at around 3pm on Friday, April 19th, and police are asking anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious to come forward.

Acting Detective Inspector Neal Heffernan said, “As you may be aware, we are currently investigating the sexual assault of a child that was reported to us at the end of last week.

“We remain in contact with the child and their family, and are providing them with support.

“As part of this investigation, a man has been charged with a number of offenses and is on remand awaiting his next court appearance. We are not seeking anyone else in connection with this investigation.

“Today, I am appealing for your help and ask anyone with information to please make contact. Were you in the area of Springway in Harrow at about 3pm on Friday, 19 April? Did you see or hear anything suspicious? Are you yet to speak with officers? It is vital that we gather as much information as possible.

“I know that this matter has caused a lot of concern in the community and that it is being discussed on various social media and group chats. At the heart of this is a young child. Their family not only have a right to privacy, but the child is also granted anonymity under the law, so we ask people to respect this.”
