May Day At The Manor – Crafts, kids stuff and cattle

Ah, the UK Bank Holiday – if there’s one thing we can usually predict it’s that the weather won’t play ball and, this year, May Day was no exception.

On a day dominated by rain and thunderstorms you would expect the public to stay away from an outdoor event in their droves but Harrow are a hardy lot and, as always, the annual May Day At The Manor event was a resounding success.

As always, the event had plenty of activities for the kids including face painting, games and competitions. The adults weren’t left out either as there were plenty of live performances, arts and crafts stalls and, of course, food and drink outlets.

The event also featured a stall from the Friends of Headstone Manor Park – a dedicated group of Harrow residents who, since 2016, have been committed to carrying out and promoting both environmental improvements and practical conservation projects in the park.

From crafts to cattle

While the May Day At The Manor event may be over for another year, the excitement doesn’t stop at this great venue as, for the next couple of weeks, Headstone Manor has some new residents.

For the first time in 50 years, cattle have been drafted in to improve the grassland and vegetation at the Manor. The public are welcome to pay a visit to these bovine boarders but are urged not to get too close or to try to touch them.

A great venue – any month of the year

Whether you’re attending an event, visiting the museum or just enjoying a picnic, Headstone Manor & Museum is an incredible venue and one that Harrow is very lucky to have.
