New policing priorities revealed for Watford

Hertfordshire Police have unveiled their latest neighbourhood priorities for Watford, aiming to tackle pressing local issues including anti-social behaviour and drug-related crimes.

This update follows a detailed analysis of recent community data and input from local residents.

Key areas of concern include drug dealing and youth-related disturbances along Rickmansworth Road, from Cassiobury Park up to the Town Hall roundabout.

Police will also target street drinking around St Mary’s Church Yard, its adjacent car park, and St Mary’s Road.

Efforts will also be intensified to curb street-level anti-social behavior on St Albans Road, stretching from Station Road to Balmoral Road.

While these issues will be at the forefront, the NPTs will continue their standard patrols and address other critical matters and force-wide priorities.

Residents can expect to see an increased police presence and more community engagement events. Targeted enforcement actions are also planned to swiftly tackle these identified issues.

Supporting the local NPTs, Watford also benefits from the presence of Intervention officers who handle emergency responses, the Local Crime Unit that investigates serious offenses, and specialized units like Operation Scorpion which focuses on crimes like burglary and assault.

Inspector Dan Jones from the Watford Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “Thank you to everyone who took the time to tell us what you’d like to see us working on locally.

“It’s really important we hear your views as our job is to ensure we keep everyone safe and tackle any issues that are having a negative or unpleasant impact across the town. We will also continue to respond to our usual daily business.

“You can keep up with what the teams are doing via our social media channels and our new community messaging system Herts Connected”
