Harrow school teacher nominated for the TES Awards 2024

Neetu Sadhwani, Head of Faculty of Modern Foreign Languages at Avanti House Secondary School has been shortlisted for the TES Awards 2024 in the category of Subject Lead of the Year.

Dubbed the ‘Oscars of Education’, the prestigious awards programme celebrates the best schools and teachers across the country.

The TES Schools Awards recognises the very best teachers and schools from UK state and independent schools, across early years settings, primary and secondary, with the shortlist compiled by a panel of school leaders and experts.

Avanti House Secondary School in Stanmore, is the only Hindu faith school, and the only school from Harrow to be shortlisted out of the 21 TES Awards categories.

Neetu Sadhwani, who has taught at Avanti House Secondary School since 2015, and leads the Harrow Collegiate for Modern Foreign Languages, was chosen out of a national field of educators, across both the state and independent sectors.

Neetu Sadhwani said: “I am truly honoured to be nominated for Best Subject Lead of the Year.

“With 17 years of teaching and leading the languages department, I’ve dedicated myself to igniting a passion for languages in our students.

“From organising educational visits to coordinating enrichment opportunities, my goal has always been to create an environment where students not only excel academically but also develop a genuine passion for languages.

“Leading the Languages Collegiate in the Harrow Borough has also been a privilege and a responsibility that I’ve embraced wholeheartedly, sharing outstanding practice and enhancing levels of teaching and learning languages.”

Simon Arnell, Principal at Avanti House Secondary School said about Sadhwani’s nomination: “Under her [Sadhwani] leadership this area of the school has shone far beyond the excellent outcomes, instilling a love and passion for learning about Europe and its culture.

“She has an amazing amount of energy and passion and we are all excited for her and eagerly await the final.”

Winners will be announced on 21st June at the Grosvenor Hotel in London.
