Former care home in Bushey set to be sold at auction

A former care home in Bushey is set to be sold by Hertfordshire County Council.

The decision to sell the property on Bournehall Avenue was taken earlier this month.

It was initially listed to be sold at auction at a guide price of £675,000 this month but was withdrawn from the sale in advance.

Now, the Local Democracy Reporting Service understands it is expected to go under the hammer in June.

According to the county council, the property was used as a care home for people with learning disabilities and mental health issues between 2015 and 2023, under the management of Catalyst Housing Association.

However, when the lease came to an end, the company returned the property to the council.

No further use for the property, which is said to require considerable updating, had been identified for council services.

A decision record published on the county council website shows that plans to sell the property were approved earlier this month (May).
