All Eyes on Harrow – A guide to opticians in our borough

Taking care of our eyes is incredibly important and having regular eye tests is crucial for identifying signs of eye disease and making sure that vision problems don’t pose a danger when driving or working. In this article, we’re taking a peek at the opticians available in our borough.

Vision Express

One of the UK’s most popular optician chains, Vision Express has stores at ST. George’s Centre, Harrow and Ruislip. Eye tests – including OCT scans – are available for adults and children and are free of charge – however, charges will apply for adult glasses and contact lenses.

Specsavers

Well known opticians, Specsavers, has branches at Station Road, Northolt Road and High Street, Harrow Weald. Specsavers offers both eye tests and hearing tests which cost between £20 and £25 depending on the store – however, concessions are available.

Boots The Opticians

Boots has, of course, been a British stalwart since 1849 when John Boot opened his first chemist store in Nottingham. In 1987, the company added in-store optician services to its arsenal and Harrow has branches on St.Ann’s Road, St.George’s Shopping Centre and Bridge Street, Pinner. Eye tests at Boots The Opticians cost from £29.50 although some customers may qualify for cheap / free tests on the NHS.

Insight

Located on Bridge Street, Pinner, Insight offers full eye tests and healthcare checks in its store which boasts the latest in technology for optical care. Eye test prices for adult and children are available on request.

Parker & Hammond

Northolt Rod South Harrow and Green Lane, Northwood, this award winning optician offers a full range of optical services including eye tests, healthcare checks, contact lenses and more. Eye test prices are available on request.
