Major gas works on Harrow View to last 42 weeks

Cadent is set to upgrade the gas network along Harrow View replacing old metal gas pipes with durable plastic ones starting from 17 June.

According to a press release sent to Harrow Online today, June 3, the work aims to ensure ‘safe and reliable gas supplies for cooking and heating’, and it will span 42 weeks.

The project covers a 1km stretch from the junction with Headstone Gardens to Hindes Road. To minimise disruption, the work will be done in 100-metre sections with rolling road closures starting from Headstone Gardens and progressing southwards.

A width restriction will be in place at the junction of Headstone Road and Greenhill Way, prohibiting HGVs, buses, and large vehicles from traveling north on Harrow View to prevent them from using residential roads.

Buses traveling north along Headstone Road and Harrow View will be diverted along Pinner Road to North Harrow and back towards Harrow View along Headstone Gardens.

Smaller vehicles traveling north on Harrow View will have access maintained up to the Cadent works, after which they will be diverted through side streets.

The road closure will move along Harrow View as the works progress. Access towards the town centre will be maintained at all times.

Cadent will also upgrade smaller ‘service’ pipes that supply gas to properties from the main gas pipe in the street. The team will contact residents directly if their service pipe will be replaced.

Plans will be reviewed and may change as the work progresses to ensure traffic flow.
