New electric vehicle charging points launched in Eastcote and Ruislip

Hillingdon Council has introduced new electric vehicle (EV) charging points in Ruislip, Eastcote and Northwood, the closest locations to Harrow. This initiative is part of the council’s partnership with APCOA, aiming to establish a comprehensive EV charging network across the borough by 2030.

The initial rollout includes 46 new chargers, with 24 installed in new locations and 22 replacing old ones. The network features 7-kilowatt chargers, soon to be complemented by an additional 14 rapid charging points (22-kilowatt), enhancing convenience for residents.

Funding has been secured for a second phase, adding 36 more charging points once electrical supplies are confirmed. Planning and feasibility studies are already in progress to finalise these locations.

This rollout benefits Hillingdon residents, particularly HillingdonFirst cardholders, who will enjoy a discounted rate of 60p per kWh compared to the standard 65p per kWh.

“Our new network of EV charging points uses the very latest technology to make them simple and easy to use and helps us future-proof our facilities to meet growing demand as more residents make the switch.

“Not everyone has a driveway or the option to charge their cars at home, so our expanding network will enable residents, and visitors, to top-up their vehicles in a convenient and affordable way.”
