Man arrested for obstructing police and immigration offences in Harrow Town Centre

A man has been arrested this week in Harrow Town Centre after an immigration check revealed no records of him entering the country.

On Wednesday, 5th June, officers from Greenhill Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) were conducting foot patrols along St Anns Road, Harrow Town Centre.

According to a post on Harrow MPS social media channels, “A male was seen begging outside Wenzels whereby he was questioned and informed begging is not allowed.”

The man had no identification and stated that he had no visa. Officers became suspicious and “questioned the male surrounding his immigration status to which he then ran away from uniformed officers.”

He was intercepted by PCSO Hammett and PCSO Monteiro, who “successfully assisted PC Covella and PCSO Chaim in apprehending the male.”

The man was arrested for obstructing a police officer and placed in handcuffs to prevent escape. An immigration check revealed no records of him entering the country, and he had not applied for settlement under the EU settlement scheme.

The post added, “he was further arrested by PC Covella where the male was taken to custody where immigration will deal accordingly.”
