A brand-new, state-of-the-art medical centre has opened in Repton Gardens, right in the heart of Wembley Park. The new Wembley Medical Centre has relocated and tripled the size of the previous practice, which used to be on Wembley Park Drive.
The centre is now an impressive 11,000 square feet, delivered by Quintain, the Wembley Park developer, and has the capacity to serve 25,000 patients within the local community. There are now rooms for 16 consultants, an admin hub for online consultations, and privacy rooms at the reception.
The newly designed space has allowed the practice to increase staff levels, including new GPs, GP assistants, clinicians, admin, and reception staff. The waiting room is no longer stuffy and intense; it is now a calming, comfortable, and spacious area that has been decorated in natural green and blue shades. The facility is fully wheelchair accessible with wider doorways and a ramp.
After many years of trying to get this off the ground, the facility is a successful collaboration between Quintain Homes, Manser Architects, Brent Council, and the vision of three leading GP Partners: Dr. Sachin Patel, Dr. Vishal Vala, and Dr. Ishani Patel.
“We are aiming to provide a continually better service. This space allows us to improve the quality of care and patient confidentiality,” explained Vishal.
For the opening, the team was joined by local Brent councillors Neal Nerva and Mohammed Butt, the Leader of Brent Council.
The team is embracing technology and innovation to improve the efficiency of the practice. Their telephony system is linked to patients’ records and will prioritise phone calls according to medical needs. Future ambitions for the centre include installing an ultrasound machine and creating space for minor surgeries.
Dr Sachin P Patel, GP Partner at Wembley Park Medical Centre, said: “I have been a GP at the surgery for 11 years and I’m thrilled for the opening of the new space, which now allows us to serve a larger proportion of the community. Our new premises will continue to have that familiar and family-like approach which it has had since the practice began in 1970.
“This new purpose-built facility is fit for modern care and treatment, with state-of-the-art primary care facilities and services as well as an increase in staff. This is not only going to hugely benefit the local community but also our staff, who have been working in cramped conditions for many years. I am grateful for Quintain and Brent Council’s time and investment into the improvement of our local services.”
Repton Gardens is a residential development, a stone’s throw from the iconic Wembley Stadium delivered by Quintain, who has been the developer at Wembley Park over the last 22 years.
The staff at the centre also feel the improvement. Dr. Patel said that staff satisfaction has increased due to the improved welfare at work. Staff are encouraged to exercise, and the facility offers showers for staff members who choose to run or cycle in.
