Firefighters tackle blaze at four-storey flats in Wealdstone, 10 people led to safety

Firefighters rushed to Wealdstone last night after a fire broke out at a four-storey block of flats.

Members of Harrow Online Group on Facebook sent images of three fire engines on the bridge in Wealdstone, at Railway Approach. Ten residents were led to safety wearing breathing apparatus.

A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said in a statement, “Firefighters tackled a fire at a four-storey block of flats on Railway Approach in Wealdstone.

“Half of the kitchen of a first floor flat was damaged by the fire. Six people left the building before the Brigade arrived. Around 10 residents from neighbouring flats were led to safety by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus.

“The Brigade was called at 2117 and the incident was over for firefighters at 2216. Three fire engines and around 20 firefighters from Harrow and Stanmore fire stations attended the scene.

“The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
