Harrow Hindu School Teacher Scoops Win at ‘Oscars of Education’

Neetu Sadhwani, a teacher from Harrow and the Head of Faculty of Modern Foreign Languages at Avanti House Secondary School and Harrow Collegiate Subject Lead, has won the Subject Lead of the Year (Secondary) at the TES Awards 2024.

The prestigious awards, now in their 16th year and often dubbed the ‘Oscars of Education,’ took place on Friday, 21st June to celebrate the achievements of the school sector and the teaching profession.

This win marks a double celebration for Avanti House Secondary School in Stanmore, as the Hindu faith school has also been shortlisted for a $50,000 (£39,000) prize at the prestigious World’s Best Schools Prize.

The TES Awards 2024 event brought together teachers and schools from across UK state and independent schools, including early years, primary, and secondary settings, for a glittering gala at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London. A panel of judges, including school leaders, experts, and education researchers, selected the 2024 winners, who were announced at the ceremony.

Neetu Sadhwani, who has taught at Avanti House Secondary School since 2015, was chosen from a national field of educators across both the state and independent sectors.

Neetu Sadhwani commented on her win, “I am deeply honoured and excited to have received the Best Subject Lead of the Year award. This incredible recognition feels like a dream come true. My passion for education, and specially for the teaching and learning of foreign languages, has always driven me, and this award is a testament to the power of sharing knowledge, positive teamwork, good leadership and perseverance.
