Firefighters rescue three people from burning building in Hillingdon

London Fire Brigade rescued three people from a flat fire on Midhurst Gardens in Uxbridge.

The brigade said that second-floor communal stairwell was destroyed by fire. Firefighters used two nine-metre ladders to rescue three people from the second floor. They were taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.

Emergency room control Officers took nine calls to the blaze and gave vital fire survival guidance to those inside the building on how to stay safe before firefighters arrived.

The Brigade was called at 06:28am and the fire was under control by 07:44am. Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters from Hillingdon, Ruislip, Southall and Northolt fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.
