At approximately 1:30pm this afternoon, a car collided with a bus stop near Headstone Lane Overground Station. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured.
“We often have accidents here, due to the layout of the road,” said a local resident who wished to remain anonymous.
A witness driving behind stopped to offer assistance and called emergency services. Local residents who heard the crash also rushed out to help.
One resident described the scene: “When I came out I saw some neighbours picking bits of metal and plastic out of the road. Then I saw the red car which appeared to have bus stop D sticking out of the front headlight.”
The driver, still inside the vehicle, reported being unharmed. “Thankfully there was no one waiting at the bus stop when the accident occurred,” a resident said.
Residents helped the driver out of the vehicle, providing him with a chair and a glass of water. “He seemed a bit shaken but was otherwise OK,” they added.
The police and Transport for London (TfL) were informed and attended shortly afterward.
The stop (Bus Spot D) on Headstone Lane is expected to be out of service until the vehicle is removed and the bus stop is made safe.
