Stanmore College has provided an update on the significant £60 million redevelopment of its premises, approved by the Department of Further Education and Harrow Council.
The project, which began in May, aims to create modern and sustainable state-of-the-art facilities. These upgrades will include high-quality teaching and sports facilities for the college’s 16-18 year-old students, adult learners over 19, and the local community.
Despite the ongoing construction, the college, which has approximately 3,000 students, assures that classes and other educational activities will continue without interruption. Enrolment for summer classes, evening courses, and the upcoming academic year remains open. The curriculum will be fully delivered throughout the redevelopment process.
The redevelopment is currently in Phase 1, involving the deconstruction of 1.5 buildings and the repurposing of another to ensure administrative and educational continuity.
The entire project is expected to take about three years, with phases designed to minimise disruption to day-to-day college activities. Upon completion, the new facilities will feature modern classrooms, recreational spaces, and eco-friendly buildings.
Speaking about the project, Stanmore College Principal, Annette Cast said, “We are committed to deliver education with immeasurable benefits for our students, now and for future generations. We can’t wait to offer new modern and sustainable facilities to them.
“We have successfully commenced the redevelopment in Spring of 2024 as planned. We aim to have the new college completed and ready for students, staff, and the community during Summer of 2027.”
