Harrow Weald police officers were called to assist colleagues at a fire incident in Marlborough.
Upon arrival, they encountered a man with an unknown identity, leading officers to use a police-issued INK (Identity Not Known) device.
This device is commonly used by the police to scan fingerprints and check them against a database for identification. Unfortunately, the INK device did not yield any results in this case.
One officer, identifying that the man was Romanian, communicated with him in his native language. The man presented an ID card, which was quickly identified as fake.
Following this, officers conducted a search and discovered a substantial amount of gold jewellery on his person.
Unable to provide a valid explanation, he was arrested for handling stolen goods.
The suspect was transported to Wembley Police Station. Further developments revealed that a resident from the fire-affected building claimed ownership of the jewellery, leading to an additional arrest for burglary.
The news was shared on the Harrow MPS social media channels.
