Six parks in Harrow have been awarded the prestigious Green Flag Awards, thanks to the dedicated efforts of volunteers, park user groups, and Harrow Council’s parks team.
The Green Flag Award scheme, managed by Keep Britain Tidy, recognises and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces both nationally and internationally. Last year, this achievement was one of the council’s flagship actions, successfully delivered and maintained through ongoing efforts.
Headstone Manor Recreation Ground, Pinner Memorial Park, Harrow Recreation Ground, Roxeth Recreation Ground, Kenton Recreation Ground, and Canons Park will soon display their new Green Flags.

Cllr Janet Mote, Cabinet Member for Community and Culture, said: “Like our residents I love visiting our parks. All our parks and open spaces are fantastic places to relax, exercise and meet family and friends. They have so much to offer and help improve health and wellbeing within our communities.
“I know a lot of work has taken place behind the scenes to retain these 6 Green Flag Awards. I have had the pleasure to meet staff, volunteers and park user groups over the last few months. I’d like to thank everybody involved in achieving this to ensure residents can enjoy using our high-quality parks.”

The borough’s Green Flag parks include:
Canons Park: Grade II-listed, featuring The King George V Memorial Garden, a walled garden originally part of the Duke of Chandos’ kitchen gardens, re-designed in the 1930s.
Harrow Recreation Ground: Offers sports facilities including cricket squares, football pitches, a bowling green, tennis courts, and a basketball court, and is home to Harrow Bowls Club.
Roxeth Recreation Ground: Includes a children’s playground, green gym, tennis, football, and cricket facilities.

Pinner Memorial Park: Features a bowling green, a pond with ducks and geese, a small aviary of budgerigars, and an ornamental ‘Peace Garden’.
Kenton Recreation Ground: Includes sporting facilities and is home to a BMX track that opened last year.
Headstone Manor: The remaining land of one of the largest farms near London, it has undergone major restoration to upgrade its features and improve flood risks, officially receiving its first Green Flag Status in 2022.
