Students at Park High School in Stanmore have been named Harrow Borough Champions in both boys’ and girls’ sports in the inaugural schools ranking competition. This achievement marks the culmination of a year-long participation in various sports, showcasing the school’s athletic prowess.
The Harrow Schools Sports Championship allows state school teams to accumulate ranking points based on their performance in different sports. These points are then totaled in league tables for both boys’ and girls’ sports. At the end of the 2023-24 season, Park High School topped both tables.

Park High School also boasted the highest participation rate in the borough. The school secured fifteen borough titles in 2023-24, achieving first or second place finishes in every sport entered. Notable victories included titles in Netball, Football, Rounders, Cricket, and Athletics. Additionally, they were runners-up in two closely contested Basketball finals. In Volleyball, Badminton, and Table Tennis competitions, Park High School also secured multiple titles across different age groups.
The school’s success extends beyond the borough, with many teams and individuals advancing to regional and national competitions.
Andy Byrne, head of PE said: “The PE department are thrilled to see the effort, enthusiasm and hard work of the students paying off. To see students develop their confidence in lessons, build an interest for a sport and then turn this into a passion at our extra-curricular clubs (and beyond) is extremely rewarding. We continue to ensure students get the very best offer here, maximising the use of the great facilities we have, expert staff in our team and specialist coaches we employ.”

In addition to their onfield success, students have also attended a number of professional fixtures, had coaching opportunities from external experts and, in the case of the under-14 netball team, been mascots for the England Netball team at the Copper Box Arena.
Colette O’Dwyer, Headteacher, said: “The sporting excellence at Park High is second to none. To see our students striving to be their best through their sporting endeavours brings us much pride. It is their hard work as individual sports men and women and their collective teamwork that has enabled them to achieve this double title-topping accomplishment supported by our wonderful staff”.
