Jalal Debella, 22, appeared in court this week via video link from HMP Belmarsh, charged with the murder of 66-year-old Anita Mukhey and possession of an offensive weapon.
The incident took place on May 9, near the junction of Burnt Oak Broadway and Limesdale Gardens in Edgware, where Mukhey was fatally stabbed.
Described as a random and unprovoked attack, the court heard details of how the accused allegedly slapped, punched, and then stabbed the victim as she waited at a bus stop.
Mukhey, a medical secretary, received treatment for knife wounds at the scene but succumbed to her injuries.
