The London Fire Brigade has confirmed that the cause of a fire at Waitrose in Ruislip on Friday is currently under investigation.
As of today (Monday, August 12), the store remains closed while authorities work to determine the cause of the blaze.
A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said, “Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters tackled a fire on Kingsend in Ruislip.
“Half of a walkway on the side of a supermarket was damaged by the fire. There were no reports of any injuries.
“One of the Brigade’s 32-metre turntable ladders was used at the scene as a water tower to help fight the fire from above.
“The Brigade was called at 2226 and the fire was under control by 0010. Crews from Ruislip, Hillingdon, Harrow and surrounding fire stations are attending the scene.
“The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.”
A Waitrose spokesperson said: “We’re working hard and hope to reopen soon. In the meantime we thank customers for bearing with us.
“While a small number of deliveries needed to be rearranged today, we’re already in contact with these customers, and have put measures in place to resume the usual, full service for online orders from tomorrow.”
