Cllr Paul Osborn, Leader of Harrow Council, reached out to residents this week in his latest message, touching on recent events, including GCSE results day and local community events taking place across the borough.

In his message, Cllr Osborn acknowledged the anxieties that have surrounded GCSE results day, noting, “Yesterday was GCSE results day, a week after further education results were published. It’s an end to what I know has been a nervous wait for many and an important milestone in the lives of our young people.”

He extended his heartfelt congratulations to those receiving their results, saying, “As they think about their next steps in life, I’d like to offer all those picking up results my congratulations and very best wishes for the future.”

Cllr Osborn also addressed those who may not have achieved the grades they were aiming for, offering reassurance and sharing his own experience. “It can be a difficult time for those that don’t get the grades they were aiming for, but I know from experience that what seems like a missed opportunity now often has a way of working out for the best,” he said.

“I didn’t get into my first choice university and went instead to Southampton, which I’m now very grateful for as it turned out to be a great option for me. Whatever the outcome, it’s important to remember that there are a lot of options still available.”

In addition, Cllr Osborn highlighted upcoming community events that embody the spirit of Harrow. He encouraged residents to take part in the Headstone Village Show over the bank holiday weekend, describing it as “a packed day of family entertainment and fun.” He also noted the Pinner Village Show, organised by Pinner Rotary, calling it “another great community event and a fantastic fundraiser for good causes.”

As the bank holiday approaches, Cllr Osborn reminded residents to be aware of the changes to bin collection arrangements, urging everyone to “please bear in mind the usual changes to bin collection arrangements.”
