The Swaminarayan Mandir in Kingsbury is marking a decade since its opening with a series of celebrations highlighting its contributions to the local community.
The temple, known for its community service and spiritual guidance, has been a beacon of unity in the area over the last decade.
Krupesh Hirani Assembly Member for Brent and Harrow expressed his sentiments in a recent post on X, formerly Twitter.
He mentioned his inability to join the celebrations in Kingsbury but reflected on his visit to the head temple in Maninagar, India. “I had the pleasure of visiting their head temple in Maninagar, India and spoke to saints there about the selfless service they provide to the community and area,” Hirani shared.
The Kingsbury Mandir recently hosted a special event attended by notable figures, including Dawn Butler, MP for Brent East. Butler, who attended the Raksha Bandhan celebration, took to X to share her thoughts on the event.
She described it as “A memorable night celebrating #RakshaBandhan and 10 years of @SGadiLondon. Honoured to share the evening with those who serve and protect the community.”
She expressed her gratitude for the “warm hospitality and the spirit of unity” experienced during the celebration.
The Mandir also welcomed guests from various public services, paying tribute to those who protect and serve society.
In a post, the Mandir mentioned, “Eminent guests included members of the Royal Navy, Armed Forces, and representatives from the Police, Fire and Ambulance services.”

Cllr Jayanti Patel also shared his experience on Facebook, expressing his joy at the celebrations in Kingsbury: “Thoroughly enjoyed the vibrant and colourful Nagaryatra procession through Kingsbury Road celebrating 10 years since the Kingsbury Temple was opening, with chariots of Lord Swaminarayan, sadhus, Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa Pipe Band and young and old performers.”
Adding to the significance of the celebrations, Prime Minister Keir Starmer visited the temple last month, underscoring the importance of the Swaminarayan Mandir in fostering community spirit and unity in Kingsbury.
