Police have recovered a firearm after stopping a car in Harrow that was believed to be headed to Notting Hill Carnival.
The Met have also confirmed that, as of 7pm this evening, there had been one report of a stabbing at Carnival today resulting in non-life threatening injuries.
Interventions by officers throughout the day, including using Section 60 search powers, have led to a number of weapons being taken off the streets.
No further details about where the vehicle was stopped in Harrow are available at this time.
Later in the afternoon, officers carried out a search at one of the entry points to Carnival, seizing a further firearm.
A man who was wanted for an attempted murder in Hackney in July was spotted at Carnival and arrested following a successful stop.
Police also confirmed that, so far today, 41 weapons other than firearms have been seized.
Officers have made 145 arrests as of 19:00hrs on Monday, bringing the total so far over two days to 249.
