A 32-year-old woman is currently fighting for her life after being stabbed at Notting Hill Carnival on Sunday, August 25th.
The woman was one of three victims in separate stabbing incidents reported during the carnival. Another victim, a 29-year-old man, sustained non-life-threatening injuries, while the condition of a 24-year-old man remains unknown.
The Met Police were out in force, executing a carefully planned operation aimed at ensuring the safety of the hundreds of thousands who attended the celebration. However, despite these efforts, the day was marred by violence and crime.
In addition to the stabbings, 15 officers were assaulted while on duty, though none of them suffered serious injuries.
The police made a total of 90 arrests over the course of the day for a range of offences.
These included 10 assaults on emergency workers, 18 incidents involving the possession of an offensive weapon, and 13 arrests for possession of Class B drugs. Other offences ranged from sexual offences and robbery to drug possession with intent to supply.
The Metropolitan Police are continuing their investigations and are urging anyone with information regarding these incidents to come forward.
While the carnival brought joy to many, the police remain vigilant in addressing the actions of a small minority who chose to engage in criminal behaviour.
