Harrow residents planning to travel around London this weekend should be aware of several significant transport disruptions that may impact their journeys.
London Underground
Piccadilly Line: From now until Sunday, 1st September, there will be no service between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge due to planned works. Commuters are advised to use the Metropolitan line instead.
There are also ongoing closures between Wood Green and Cockfosters, with replacement bus services available. Services will resume as normal on Monday, 2nd September.
London Overground
Willesden Junction to Shepherd’s Bush:
On Friday, 30th August, no southbound service will operate between Willesden Junction and Shepherd’s Bush until 06:15 due to maintenance work.
The first through train from Willesden Junction to Clapham Junction will be at 06:23. Travelers can use local bus routes 220 or 228 during this time.
Willesden Junction to Clapham Junction:
From 19:00 on Saturday, 31st August, until 12:00 on Sunday, 1st September, there will be no service between Willesden Junction and Clapham Junction due to Network Rail maintenance work. Travelers are encouraged to use local bus routes during this period.
Road Closures and Events
Lord’s Cricket Ground: Between Thursday, 29th August, and Sunday, 1st September, large crowds and increased traffic are expected in the vicinity of Lord’s Cricket Ground due to the England vs. Sri Lanka test match. Harrow residents traveling to or through this area should plan for potential delays.
A40 Westway: From Monday, 2nd September until mid-October, the A40 Westway northbound will be closed to traffic from the A3220 West Cross Route. Significant delays are anticipated, and drivers are advised to use alternative routes such as the A312 The Parkway or the A406 North Circular.
Residents are urged to plan their journeys ahead, allow extra time for travel, and check the latest updates using the TfL Go app to avoid unnecessary delays.
