Last Friday, August 30th, Metropolitan Police officers executed warrants in connection with a robbery that took place at a post office on Brabazon Road in Hounslow this April.
During the robbery, a man allegedly entered the post office and threatened the shopkeeper with a firearm, demanding cash. He is believed to have forced a staff member into the safe room, where he reportedly stole £136,774.44. Witnesses claim the suspect then ordered both employees into a back room, removed the CCTV hard drive, and fled the scene.
The investigation revealed that the robbery may have been part of a larger conspiracy involving additional suspects.
Following up on leads, detectives and specialist officers carried out search warrants at multiple locations in London, Surrey, and Hampshire.
Four individuals were arrested as part of the operation: two men, aged 38 and 65, and two women, aged 39 and 44. They face charges of:
- Conspiracy to steal
- Conspiracy to possess criminal property
- Conspiracy to pervert the course of justice
The 65-year-old man was released on bail, while the other three were charged and remanded in custody by Wimbledon Magistrates. They are scheduled to appear next at Isleworth Crown Court on Friday, September 27th. An additional suspect had previously been charged in connection with this case.
Detective Inspector Ari Yoganathan, who is leading the investigation, said: “We know our communities stand firm with us against the use of firearms and support us in our efforts to tackle robbery.
“We are committed to reducing crime that impacts our communities and keeping residents, businesses and staff safe.”
