Cllr Paul Osborn, Leader of Harrow Council, shared his thoughts in the latest MyHarrow newsletter following the annual Harrow’s Heroes awards, which took place on Wednesday at Headstone Manor.
Cllr Paul Osborn, who attended the event and presented an award, said, “It was a great privilege to once again be involved in Harrow’s Heroes… Our annual community awards is not just a glittering night of celebration, it’s also a chance for us to say thank you to some very special local heroes.”
The awards included 11 categories, recognising individuals and groups for their contributions to the community. Cllr Osborn added, “I heard lots of inspiring stories on the night and though we had to pick winners across our 11 categories, I’d like to congratulate every one of our amazing finalists and all those nominated – they are all truly special.”
Among the award recipients was Casey Dalton of Harrow Litter Pickers, who received the Extraordinary Achievement Award. “I was honoured to present the Extraordinary Achievement Award to Casey Dalton of Harrow Litter Pickers,” said Cllr Osborn.
Harrow Litter Pickers, a growing group of dedicated volunteers, was founded by Dalton in response to concerns about litter in her street. “This group of dedicated volunteers has grown and grown. They’re a fantastic force for good and it all started with Casey’s unhappiness about the litter in her street. She decided to take action and do something about it,” he said.
“She started clearing litter every day and was soon joined by more people ready to do their bit.”
Cllr Osborn spoke of the council’s commitment to supporting similar community efforts. “I have made sure that the council has supported litter pickers across the borough as part of our commitment to restore pride in Harrow,” he said.

“Once again, congratulations to all our Heroes – you’re truly a credit to Harrow,” Cllr Osborn said.
