New 310 bus route now operating in Barnet

A new bus route, the 310, is now operating between Golders Green in Barnet and Stamford Hill, offering a direct connection between the two areas for the first time. The service, introduced by Transport for London (TfL), is part of a wider effort to improve public transport options for local residents, including London’s Jewish community.

Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, commented: “I’m delighted that the 310 bus route is now up and running, and serving the community. I pledged to Londoners when I was re-elected that I would introduce this route, and I’m pleased to be delivering on this promise.”

The route connects several North London boroughs, including Hackney, Barnet, Islington, Camden, and Haringey, with stops at key locations like Highgate Village, Whittington Hospital, and Finsbury Park. The 310 is expected to reduce car use, easing congestion and improving air quality in the area.

TfL has opened a consultation that will run until August 2025, inviting feedback from the public to inform the long-term future of the route. Geoff Hobbs, TfL’s Director of Public Transport Service Planning, said: “We welcome all customers on board the new 310 bus and encourage people to use the service as much as possible and provide feedback during the consultation period.”

The introduction of the 310 bus route comes in response to years of campaigning by local communities, particularly from Jewish residents in both Golders Green and Stamford Hill. Andrew Gilbert and Adrian Cohen, Co-Chairs of the London Jewish Forum, noted the significance of the new route, stating: “This is something we have been campaigning for over 15 years.”

The trial service is part of TfL’s broader Bus Action Plan, which also includes improvements to the 210 route between Brent Cross Shopping Centre and Finsbury Park. Starting 21 September, buses on route 210 will operate more frequently in the early mornings, offering better service across the week.

Feedback from local residents and regular users will be vital in shaping the future of the 310. Rabbi Dovid Lichtig, Chief Executive of the Interlink Foundation, praised the route, saying: “We welcome the introduction of the new 310 bus route, which will significantly enhance connectivity between our communities in Golders Green and Stamford Hill.”

Local leaders also welcomed the move, with Barnet Council’s Cllr Alan Schneiderman highlighting the environmental benefits of the new route: “The 310 is an important new transport link, helping to reduce car use by providing a sustainable and affordable travel option for people travelling across North London.”

Residents are encouraged to share their experiences using the 310 bus and participate in the consultation to help shape the future of public transport in the area.
