Wembley Park sees record summer footfall with over 2.8 million visitors

Wembley Park saw over 2.8 million people visit this summer, surpassing pre-pandemic levels by 18%. TfL data shows that exits at Wembley Park Underground Station reached 2,868,000 between June and August 2024, placing the station in the top 5% of all 434 TfL-operated stations, ahead of many central London locations.

This increase was driven by world-class entertainment, including eight sold-out Taylor Swift concerts, Bruce Springsteen, AC/DC, and Green Day at Wembley Stadium, as well as shows by Troye Sivan, Scorpions, and Garbage at OVO Arena Wembley. In addition, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Starlight Express returned to London at the newly named Starlight Auditorium, while Punchdrunk Enrichment began a three-year residency with Enitan’s Game.

Looking ahead, Coldplay, Oasis, and Dua Lipa are set to perform sell-out shows at Wembley Stadium in summer 2025. The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will also open its new headquarters in Wembley Park early next year.

Public art installations, such as the Taylor Swift-inspired murals by HUMOR x MurWalls and Frank Styles, and the Taylor on Tour photo exhibition, contributed to the area’s cultural offerings. The open-air Sound Shell stage hosted events like Wembley Park Pride and Taylor on Strings.

Retail also thrived, with London Designer Outlet reporting peak sales of £28.7 million, its highest since opening in 2013. PFM Intelligence data shows a 9.3% increase in year-to-date visitors compared to 2023, a 44.8% rise from 2022, and a 144.4% increase since 2021.

Justine Simons OBE, Deputy Mayor for Culture and the Creative Industries, said: “London has had a spectacular summer of music, arts and sports, and Wembley Park has been right at the heart of it. Wembley Stadium hosted more nights of Taylor Swift’s record-breaking The Eras Tour than any other venue, while the Starlight Auditorium hosted Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Starlight Express and there were fantastic free open-air performances on Olympic Way. I look to 2025 with excitement as the area welcomes more high-profile gigs, including the long-awaited return of Oasis, and the new home of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, building a better London for all.”

Wembley Park’s transformation has been driven by its growing residential community and diverse cultural offerings. Claudio Giambrone, Head of Marketing and Cultural Programming at Wembley Park, commented: “Wembley Park has truly blossomed into a vibrant creative neighbourhood for London. From world-class stages to street art, we’re showcasing incredible talent – both global stars and emerging local performers. We’re grateful to the artists and our amazing venues for making this possible. It has been anything but a ‘Cruel Summer’ for Wembley Park!”
