A Ruislip resident is running 100 miles throughout October to support his sister, who is battling breast cancer.
Adam Holmes is taking on this challenge, which includes the Chichester Half Marathon and the Great South Run, to raise money for a wig for his sister, Sharon, who lost her hair due to chemotherapy.
Adam set up a GoFundMe page, which has already reached its £1,500 target, but he’s hoping to raise more. He wrote, “Hi, I’m Adam, and I’m on a mission to bring some joy to my incredible sister, Sharon, who is bravely battling breast cancer. Chemotherapy has taken a toll on her, causing her to lose her hair. As her younger brother, I want to do something special to lift her spirits.”
He added, “Sharon has always been there for me, and now it’s my turn to support her. To help her get the beautiful wig she deserves, I’m committing to running 100 miles throughout October. This challenge includes the Chichester Half Marathon and the Great South Run. I’ll be hitting the pavement every day to reach my goal.”
Adam also explained why this campaign matters: “Sharon has shown immense courage and resilience. A wig will help her feel more like herself again.”
The GoFundMe page encourages people to contribute, share the campaign, or simply cheer Adam on as he runs for Sharon. He said, “Thank you for your generosity and support. Together, we can make a difference and bring a smile to Sharon’s face!”
