We have been contacted by a member of Harrow Online who has found a World War 1 medal belonging to a local man, John Mills, who lived in Harrow.
The individual is hoping to return the medal to the family and is asking for help to trace the descendants of John and James Mills, two brothers who were both killed in action during the First World War.
“These medals should be with their families”
The person who contacted us said, “I have one of the brothers’ medals. I believe these men’s medals should be with their families to cherish.” They have successfully returned one medal to a family in Canada and are now looking to return this one to its rightful descendants.
John Mills is believed to have lived on Harrow View, and his brother James was also killed in action during the war. Their mother moved to Harrow after the war and was with their older brother, Joseph Mills, lived on Moat Drive from 1927. “I just can’t seem to find where they ended up,” they said.
