A nurse at Northwick Park has been nominated for the Royal College of Nursing’s Rising Star Awards.
Eugenia Badu, 26, who works on Gaskell Ward, was put forward by her colleagues for “consistently going above and beyond for her patients.”
Eugenia, who will attend the event with her father, shared, “My dad has been my biggest inspiration.” Her father, a mental health nurse, influenced her decision to pursue the same career path after she first gained experience caring for a relative.
“I’ve wanted to be a nurse for as long as I can remember and am so proud my dad is coming with me to the awards. He’s been with me every step of the way encouraging and supporting me since I was a young girl,” she said.
Her experience on a respiratory ward has been valuable during her bank shifts at the hospital, where her expertise in tracheostomies and oxygen delivery devices is appreciated by colleagues.
“Clinical skill is only part of my job as a nurse. Empathy, compassion and making my patients smile is equally important,” she added.
