Hillingdon Council has celebrated the completion of a new housing development in Hayes, delivering 34 modern social homes for local residents. On Wednesday, 16 October, Cllr Eddie Lavery, Hillingdon Council’s Cabinet Member for Residents Services, visited the site, which includes a mix of one-to-three-bedroom properties with shared garden spaces.
Construction began in 2022 on the brownfield site, previously used as a day care and care home facility, which had remained vacant for several years. The new development was completed in partnership with Neilcott Construction and includes two blocks, Balsam Court and Silverleaf Court, each containing 17 homes.

The buildings are equipped with solar panels on the roof to help lower energy costs, as well as cycle storage, and a central car park with electric vehicle charging points and the capability to add more in the future. To manage potential flooding from heavy rain, the car park has been fitted with large underground ‘attenuation crates’ to absorb excess surface water.
Cllr Lavery said: “We have a proven track record of delivering high quality affordable homes for residents. The demand for housing continues to increase and we are actively working to address this, including repurposing unused land into much-needed housing.
“We are committed to helping residents live in safe and strong communities and these brand new energy efficient homes will not only provide safe and comfortable living spaces but also significantly reduce utility bills for residents.”
