The London Borough of Harrow has opened a public consultation on the final draft of its Local Plan. This plan outlines where new housing and development could be located. Residents, businesses, and community groups in Harrow are encouraged to share their feedback on this final draft.
The consultation will run for six weeks, ending at 11:59 pm on Tuesday, 17 December. You can participate online at talk.harrow.gov.uk//harrowlocalplan or attend a drop-in event in the Masefield Suite at Harrow Leisure Centre on the following dates:
- Thursday, 21 November 2024, 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm
- Saturday, 23 November 2024, 10:00 am to 1:30 pm
The final draft has incorporated input from earlier consultations. This consultation is a last opportunity for public comments before the plan is submitted. A guide on how to submit feedback is available on the MyHarrow Talk platform.
This comes as proposed government changes to housing targets and the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) are being considered. The Local Plan aims to protect Harrow and address local needs.
Councillor Marilyn Ashton, Deputy Leader of the Council and Portfolio Holder for Planning & Regeneration, said: “We are pleased to present the Local Plan for consultation, reflecting the input provided by our community. This is an important step in ensuring Harrow’s future growth is balanced, sustainable, and responsive to the needs of our residents.
“With proposed recent changes in national planning policy, it’s crucial that we push forward with a robust and well-considered plan to protect our Borough and deliver the housing and infrastructure we need. I encourage everyone to take part in the consultation and help shape the future of Harrow.”
After this consultation, the plan will move to an independent examination by the Planning Inspectorate, offering further chances for public input.
