South Harrow man’s 85km ride in mum’s memory

A South Harrow resident has been riding from London to Brighton each year, honouring his mother’s memory while raising funds for the British Heart Foundation (BHF).

Mateusz Juda, 40, has made the 85-kilometer journey annually for the past four years in memory of his mother, who passed away when he was two years old.

“One cold December night, she came home early from a Christmas party, and while she was alone, her heart gave out. She left behind my dad, my older sister, and me—a young family shattered by sudden loss,” Mateusz said.

For Mateusz, each kilometer of the BHF ride is dedicated to his mother and the hope that no other family will face the same heartbreak. “This ride is my way of keeping her memory alive. Each kilometer is for her and for the hope that no other family will have to endure the heartbreak we did. I plan to keep doing this ride for as long as my health allows, in the hope that these efforts can save others from such a loss.”

Mateusz is calling on the community to support his cause. “I would love if you could share my story and share a link to my JustGiving page so people could donate money to this fantastic cause.”

Through this annual ride, Mateusz keeps his mother’s memory alive while contributing to the BHF’s mission to prevent heart disease.
