The Tithe Farm Sports and Social Club has been nominated for four awards at this year’s Club Awards, set to take place in Leicester on November 27.
The club, based in Rayners Lane, is in the running for Family Club of the Year, Refurbishment Club of the Year, Sports & Social Club of the Year, and a Long Service award for Andy Spreadborough. More details about the awards can be found at clubawards.co.uk.
Founded in 1933, the club began as a builders’ hut on what is now Lucas Avenue and has grown significantly over the years. By 1935, it had expanded to include a bar and a snooker room. In 1965, the club secured ownership of the land, allowing it to establish facilities for football, drama, darts, snooker, and archery, with the club being renamed Tithe Farm Sports and Social Club in 2006.

In 2019, a new clubhouse was built, featuring a 3G football pitch that now hosts home games for Rayners Lane FC and Broadfields FC. Last year, Tithe Farm Sports and Social Club won Family Club of the Year and looks to build on that success in this year’s awards.
The club’s chairman, Andy Spreadborough, nominated for the Long Service award, has been involved for over 35 years, following in the footsteps of his father, who was a previous groundsman. In recognition of his dedication, members voted to name the main bar the ‘Spreadborough Lounge’ after him and his family’s contributions to the club.
