A community clean-up took place in Hatch End on Sunday, 17th November, organised by local councillors Matthew Goodwin-Freeman and Susan Hall.
The event was supported by the Harrow Litter Pickers, local Scouts, the Hatch End Association, and Hatch End residents. Over 50 volunteers participated, cleaning two service roads behind Hatch End high street.
Local businesses provided food and drinks for the volunteers, and a skip, funded by the councillors, was filled with waste that will now be collected.

The clean-up addressed a growing issue of dumping and fly-tipping on “unadopted roads,” which are not maintained by the Council but are the responsibility of local residents and businesses. Bulky items, including mattresses, were separated for collection through the Council’s free bulky waste service.

Cllr Matthew Goodwin-Freeman said, “The hope is that now this community action can be used as a template to tackle hotspots of issues in other wards across Harrow, bringing residents and the Council together to keep Harrow clean.”
