Lidl has announced plans to open a new store on Ickenham Road, Ruislip. The proposal includes developing the site of the Orchard Public House, the Premier Inn Hotel, and the car park, which also houses the Spitfire Memorial.
As part of the planning process, Lidl is inviting residents and stakeholders to view the proposals and provide feedback. A drop-in session is scheduled for Monday, 25th November 2024, from 5 pm to 8 pm at Ruislip Conservative Club, 56–58 Ickenham Road, Ruislip, HA4 7DQ. Those unable to attend can submit feedback online through the provided feedback form.
The proposed store will be a low-rise building, designed to blend with the existing area. Nearly 70% of the store space will be allocated for retail use, while the remaining 20% will serve as staff welfare areas and other associated facilities. The plan also includes 71 parking spaces, featuring accessible parking, parent-and-child spaces, staff parking, and electric vehicle charging points.
Lidl is also considering the local community’s connection to the Spitfire Memorial and plans to create a fitting tribute to Polish airmen who served during the Second World War. Residents are encouraged to share ideas through the survey to help shape the memorial within the proposed Orchard Garden.
The development aims to revitalise a redundant site, creating local jobs during the construction phase and within the store once operational. It will provide a new shopping option for Ruislip residents while adhering to council guidelines regarding store operations and deliveries.
Lidl is keen to hear the community’s thoughts and feedback as the plans progress. For more information or to submit your views, you can contact Lidl via their dedicated email address: lidlruislip@whatyouthink.co.uk.
