Wembley Park’s London Designer Outlet and Solace Women’s Aid have marked the third year of their ‘In Their Shoes’ Christmas campaign, supporting women and children in refuge from domestic violence.
Since 2021, the campaign has provided over 700 pairs of shoes and essential household items to those in need. This year, they aim to collect an additional 300 pairs of warm winter shoes.
For those unfamiliar, the London Designer Outlet (LDO) is a popular shopping destination in Wembley Park, featuring a wide selection of fashion, lifestyle, and homeware brands. With more than 70 outlet stores, along with restaurants and cafes, it offers year-round discounts of up to 70% off recommended retail prices, with savings reaching up to 85% during sales.

A Christmas tree lighting ceremony, featuring the ‘Tree of Soles,’ took place at LDO this December. The lights represent women and children currently in refuge across London. The event was attended by Solace CEO Nahar Choudhury and community leaders.
Michelle D’Vaz-Plant, Head of Marketing at LDO, said: “This year, our commitment to supporting women and children in our local communities is stronger than ever. It’s truly a collective effort, with support coming through both donations and acts of kindness. We’re inspired to see the LDO brands, our guests and the Brent community unite once again to make a real difference.”
Nahar Choudhury, Solace CEO, added: “Emotional abuse affects one in two women and at least 85% of the women we support. The lasting impact and trauma of emotional abuse is often overlooked in the context of violence and abuse, but we see firsthand how controlling behaviours such as belittling, silencing and gaslighting can not only be some of the early signs of potential physical and sexual abuse but can be devastating in themselves.

“The third year of this initiative reaffirms the profound impact that community solidarity can have. Our ongoing partnership with London Designer Outlet is a beacon of hope for the women and children we support, and every donation we receive has the power to change lives.”
LDO is also supporting Solace’s 2024 Christmas campaign, #IseeMaya, which highlights women who have been silenced due to emotional abuse. Maya decorations are being sold at LDO Guest Services, with proceeds going to Solace.
