Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters responded to a fire at the Royal Free Hospital on Fleet Road, Hampstead.
The fire occurred in a recreation building on the hospital site, with part of the building’s roof alight. One of the Brigade’s 32m ladders was deployed to fight the fire from above.
Traffic in the area is expected to be heavily affected as crews remain on the scene.
The Brigade was first alerted to the fire at 11:15am. Crews from Kentish Town, West Hampstead, Paddington, and surrounding fire stations attended the incident. Firefighters brought the fire under control by 12:51pm.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
