Barnet FC Chairman Anthony Kleanthous has confirmed plans to end the club’s time in Harrow and build a new stadium in the Borough of Barnet.
A press conference was held at The Hive Stadium in Camrose Avenue, Edgware, by Anthony Kleanthous, AndArchitects, and planners WSP. The club has been based at The Hive since 2013, after moving from Underhill Stadium in Barnet, where it was located from 1907 to 2013.
During the event, AndArchitects presented updated designs and the proposed location for the new stadium, which will now be on the south side of Barnet Playing Fields. The updated site is designed to better accommodate the local school and community, moving away from its previous position near Ark Pioneer Academy.
The plans include a 7,000-capacity stadium featuring a medical scanning centre and community facilities. The design also incorporates rewilding and biodiversity efforts, such as trees along the east side to maintain natural views for residents.
The east and south stands will be sunken into the ground, with the height of these areas limited to a single storey, while the north and west stands will house the main football club operations.
In November, Barnet FC held two public consultation sessions at Tudor Hall in Barnet. These sessions focused on topics such as architectural design, planning, and traffic management. Feedback from residents, supporters, and local dignitaries was used to revise the stadium plans, which will form part of the final outline planning application.
The club confirmed the plans will be submitted to Barnet Council by the end of the year.
