Several road closures will disrupt residents of Harrow this month while major utility works are carried out. One is set to be carried out in eight phases and is expected to last eight months.
While one road closure will take place overnight, which will minimise disruption, others will last or have already lasted for months. The closures could cause traffic disruption for residents who may need to find an alternative route to get to their destination.
Below is a breakdown of the three major road closures both ongoing and planned that will continue to be in force throughout February, according to Harrow Council’s website. They include details of the diversion routes available to residents who may face disruption.
Drivers can expect to continue experiencing delays while Buckingham Road in Harrow-on-the-Hill remains closed. Restrictions have been in place since December last year, and they mean vehicles are unable to enter or exit the western arm of Buckingham Road between its junctions with Whitchurch Avenue and Merlin Crescent while utility works are carried out.
The restrictions are operational between 9.30am and 3.30pm and will remain in place until March 9. In the meantime, residents have been advised to use the diversion route via Whitchurch Avenue.
Remaining in Harrow-on-the-Hill, overnight restrictions on Kymberley Road, which have been in place since December 9 and will continue until March 13, will remain in place. During this period, vehicles are not allowed to enter or exit Kymberley Road between its junctions with Headstone Road and College Road while utility works are carried out.
The restrictions are in operation from 8pm until 6am. Residents are advised to use the diversion routes via Pinner Road, Lowlands Road, Tyburn Lane, Peterborough Road, Station Road, and College Road until the restrictions are lifted.
Since June last year, Harrow View has been the subject of several road closures while major gas main renewals take place. The works are being carried out in eight phases and are expected to last 18 months.
Restrictions have been in place since 8am on June 13 last year, and the council expects all phases to be completed by May 19. Below is a list of where each phase of the renewal works is set to take place.
- Phase 1. Between Headstone Drive/Headstone Gardens and Bolton Road
- Phase 2. Between Headstone Drive/Headstone Gardens and Hide Road
- Phase 3. Between Bolton Road and Longley Road
- Phase 4. Between Hide Road and Longley Road
- Phase 5. Between Longley Road and Cunningham Park
- Phase 6. Between Cunningham Park and Buckingham Road
- Phase 7. Between Buckingham Park and Balfour Road
- Phase 8. Between Balfour Road and Hindes Road, including the western arm of Hindes Road
In the meantime, residents are advised to use the diversion routes via Greenhill Way, Station Road, Harrow, Railway Approach, George Gange Way, High Street, Wealdstone, High Road, Uxbridge Road, Harrow Weald, and Courtenay Avenue.

Palmerston Road (Wealdstone): Road closed from Feb 18 to Mar 3 for water works
Station Road (Harrow Town Centre): Road closed from Jan 20 to Feb 10 for unknown works
