Road closures to disrupt Harrow residents as major works continue

Several road closures will disrupt residents of Harrow this month while major utility works are carried out in the borough. Some closures will last for a bit longer than others. Delays are expected for many of the affected roads, and residents may need to find alternative routes.

Below is a breakdown of the major road closures according to the One Network website. These include details of diversion routes available for those impacted by the works.

Harrow View

Since June last year, Harrow View has seen several road closures as major gas main renewals take place. The works are being carried out in eight phases and are expected to last 18 months. Restrictions have been in place since 8am on June 13, and all phases are expected to be completed by May 19.

Below is a list of where each phase of the renewal works is taking place:

  • Phase 1: Between Headstone Drive/Headstone Gardens and Bolton Road
  • Phase 2: Between Headstone Drive/Headstone Gardens and Hide Road
  • Phase 3: Between Bolton Road and Longley Road
  • Phase 4: Between Hide Road and Longley Road
  • Phase 5: Between Longley Road and Cunningham Park
  • Phase 6: Between Cunningham Park and Buckingham Road
  • Phase 7: Between Buckingham Road and Balfour Road
  • Phase 8: Between Balfour Road and Hindes Road, including the western arm of Hindes Road

Residents are advised to use diversion routes via Greenhill Way, Station Road, Railway Approach, George Gange Way, High Street (Wealdstone), High Road, Uxbridge Road (Harrow Weald), and Courtenay Avenue.

Additional road closures in March

Below is a breakdown of these closures:

  • Fontwell Close – Closed from March 13 to March 17 for Openreach works. Delays expected.
  • Hibbert Road – Closed from March 11 (8:00am) to March 13 (5:30pm) for works by Harrow Council. Delays expected.
  • Byron Road – Closed from March 17 (11:00am) to March 19 (6:00pm) for Thames Water works. Delays expected.
  • Old Church Lane – Multi-way signals in operation from March 17 (9:30am) to March 21 (3:30pm) for Openreach works.

Residents are advised to plan ahead and use alternative routes where necessary.
