Glebe Primary School held its annual Easter Bonnet Parade on Friday morning (April 4), with students showcasing colourful homemade bonnets in celebration of Easter and the arrival of spring.
The Mayor of Harrow, Councillor Salim Chowdhury, attended the event, joining pupils, parents and staff for the festivities. Children arrived wearing a range of creative bonnets, many featuring traditional spring themes such as chicks, flowers, bunny ears and Easter eggs.
The parade began at around 9am, led by Year 6 pupils, followed by each year group taking part in a catwalk-style procession around the school’s outdoor playground area. Families attended the event and were offered refreshments and treats by the PTFA, who also organised a raffle with a 1kg Easter egg donated by the Harrow and Pinner Lion Society.
The Mayor of Harrow was invited to judge the bonnets and select one winner from each class. All 44 winners were awarded prizes after a final parade to celebrate their efforts.
Headteacher Sash Hamidi said, “The Easter Bonnet Parade is one of the favourite traditions at Glebe. It brings together creativity, celebration, and community – it’s been a delight to see the pride in our children’s faces. We are so grateful to the Mayor of Harrow for joining us this year, and to all our families for making the morning so memorable. It has been a brilliant term celebrating important events including the colour festival of Holi, a special Vaisakhi assembly, an Eid themed lunch and of course, today!”
