Belmont Bay has officially won the ‘Best Fish and Chip Shop’ category after topping a poll in the Harrow Online Awards.
The win was confirmed after the public poll, held in the Harrow Online Group on Facebook, received over 1,000 votes. Belmont Bay came out on top with 39% of the vote.
Speaking about the win, John Ioannou, proprietor of Belmont Bay, said: “We’re delighted to win such a special award in the midst of our 21st year in business. In previous years we’ve had success in competitions nationally, voted through the National Fish Friers Federation.
“However, this award means much more to us because the votes come from the people who matter most, our loyal customers, and to come out on top within such a strong field is a proud moment for us.
“Lastly, I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who voted and to the Belmont Bay team, this achievement wouldn’t be possible without your contributions.”

Barracuda in Headstone Gardens came in second place with 22% of the vote, while Sea Pebbles in Hatch End finished third with 12%.
Harrow Online Director Chris Mitchell said: “We want to say a huge congratulations to Belmont Bay for winning the first ever Harrow Online Award. Thanks as well to all the other brilliant fish and chip shops that took part- it’s been great to see the local community showing so much support.”
Belmont Bay will receive their trophy soon. Stay tuned for the next award category, which will be announced shortly.
